Project update

I undertook a group investigation about 'Who Belongs to Glasgow?'.

This investigation was handed in to Susan Traynor today and asked various questions such as;

1. Who belongs to Glasgow?
2. The origins of poeple from Glasgow.
3. The impact of people who stay in Glasgow.
4. What input or contribution do people have on Glasgow's current society.

This report concluded that Glasgow is a multicultual society that belongs to ethnic groups from a variety of backgrounds. The majority of people we researched and the information obtained believed that this current environment was positive although some people commented on some negative aspects. Glasgow, I believe, now benefits from the contribution of a vast number of cultures from around the World.

Hello. My name is John Hevern and I am part of the Access Social Science class. I am part of a group consisting of Stuart, Lorraine (there were others who seem to have dropped out).

We are conducting research on 'Who Belongs to Glasgow?'. This is based on Glaswegiens and other cultures and ethnic groups who stay in this city.

Hello its Eddie again this post is to tell you how me and the group I got on with research the changing roles in fatherhood. We obtained secondary research from the interent, websites like apa.org which gave good insight to the role the father has had through time. We also found out about the factors which have effected the role of the father like more women going to work, new laws for seperated parents and father being able to take time of work when their baby is born. We also made a questionnaire for the public asking about the experiences they have had with their father such as how much time they spend with them and what he does to help in the house. The older people we asked said their father didnt do that much to help with chores ect, and their mother was left with most of the responsibilities. However the younger people ages 18-25 said their father done more in the house, spend more time with them and went to events like parents meetings at school. All this research was combined to write a report and create a power point presentation presenting our findings on the topic. We concluded that the role of the father has changed from 40 years ago, were he was expected to be the breadwinner of the family and had no time to spend time with their children. Now more fathers are taking part in the development of their children, with the wife now working and being giving time of work its now also easier for a father to do so.

We done this by collecting secondary research from websites and books to do with economic factors and social changes which have affected the role of the father. We also made a questionnaire targeted at different age groups both male and female to find out their experiences with their father. We used the information we found to write a report.

changing roles of fatherhood

hi my name is scott walker our group was set the task of finding out wether the role of a father had changed over the years. Ourgroup of 3 was Eddie Mckenna Scott Maclure and myself.
1st we were set the task of finding secondary information using only the internet. we searched for information on sites such as "fathers for justice" and 2 the role of a father"
We then had to put together a presentation and show our findings to the class.
Our findings from this research showed that there was little information that we could gather findings from. Further information gathered from our primary investigation and looking more closly at our 1st findings, showed this was not the case.
The second part of the project was to make up questionaires and go out into town and ask people on the streets to fill out our questionaires. We asked males and females aged from 18-45 questions ranging from "does thier father do household chores" to "does thier father spend time with them and how often".
Our finding showed a few significant changes between the 2 age groups we asked.
next we set out to find why there was a change and to present our finding in a presentation like before.
